ISWEST EXPANDS BACKBONE CAPACITY
Westlake Village, Calif., May 9, 1997: Internet Specialties West or
I.S. West, has doubled its outgoing capacity to the rest of the global
Internet. Now maintaining fiber links with UUnet Technologies and
InternetMCI, IS West can offer customers even more reliable service.
"The single link was fast and wasn’t near full capacity,
but in order to provide faster access for our customers and more redundancy
we opted to add another link. After months of planning for a seamless
integration, we finally turned the circuit up and within minutes customers
were being routed dynamically. For example, a customer trying to visit
Microsoft’s web site (http://www.microsoft.com) would go out
the UUnet Technologies backbone link, while a customer trying to visit
Netscape’s web site (http://www.netscape.com) would be going
out the InternetMCI link," says Keith McCallion, Senior Network
Operations Engineer for IS West.
I.S. West has recently undergone many changes within the organization
in order to provide the best service possible. With the introduction
of Drew Kaplan as Chief Operating Officer, the focus of the company
has dramatically changed. As Mr. Kaplan put it, "Change is constant,
rapid and often revolutionary. Our ability to adapt is the difference
between leaping ahead and being left behind."
I.S. West is located in the North Ranch business center off of La
Baya drive. We are a full-service Internet Service Provider offering
local Internet dial-up, as well as dedicated ISDN, T-1 access for
Businesses. We feature the finest quality equipment from Cisco Systems,
Livingston Technologies, and Sun for our award-winning Internet Architecture.
I.S. West maintains two SONET fiber optic connections to Pacific Bell
and Metropolitan Fiber, and utilizes the industries best upstream
providers, UUnet Technologies and InternetMCI.
