Local Access Provider Installs Blazing Fast T3 Connection To The Internet…

Westlake Village, CA February 5, 1999 – Internet Specialties West, Inc. (ISWest) today announced the installation of a new Fiber Optic T3 from Frontier Global Center (NYSE:FRO). This high speed Internet connection makes ISWest the fastest ISP in Ventura County.

What do these changes mean to our customers? Keith McCallion, Network Operations Manager says. "Our new Internet backbone will make us the only provider in the Conejo Valley to have a 45mbit/second connection (that is over 28 times as much as a T1!). This means our customers and their customers get the information they want 28 times faster then a T1, the speed that most ISP’s connect to the Internet. To minimize the time it takes to load your web page, and to prevent backups and bottlenecks caused by to much traffic, ISWest utilizes the full bandwidth of a fiber optic T3 connection to the Internet. This allows us to transfer far more information per second than the standard T1 or multiple/fractional T1 connections."

ISWest is wired with Pacific Bells state-of-the-art Fiber (OC12) 622-mbps connection to their building with a (T3) 45-mbps connection terminating at Frontier Global Center. Frontier GlobalCenter's customer list includes many of the biggest brand names in the Internet including Yahoo (NASDAQ:YHOO), Playboy, Quote.com, Cox Interactive, Electronic Arts, The Motley Fool, and USA TODAY. ISWest also has redundant (T-1’s) 1.544-mbps for emergency back up terminated with Cable & Wireless (NYSE:CWP).

"When you start to get as big as we are, especially with our recent acquisition of Channel Island Internet, we must keep in mind the possibility of an outage or failure with the Internet backbone.
