About Drew J. Kaplan
Born and bread a dynamic, creative entrepreneur and Inventor, Mr. Kaplan is a 3rd generation native of Southern California. This rare combination of vision and talent has served Mr. Kaplan well in the creation of ISWest, a business to business Internet Service Provider serving small to medium sized businesses since 1996 with high speed connectivity, e-mail/spam filtering and server colocation services. Mr. Kaplan leads the way with one of the fastest growing privately held technology companies.
Prior to ISWest, Drew co-founded a Telephone Company in 1993 and served as Vice President. His Telephone Company successfully pioneered one of the first pre-paid calling cards to the Hispanic community under the label Communicard. Mr. Kaplan also won a Clio Award for Best Hispanic Television Commercial in 1994. Communicard was distributed in over 1,500 independent retail outlets in Southern California.
In 1991, Mr. Kaplan relocated to New Zealand were he was responsible for the development of a 1,500 acre farm. He obtained approval from the local city council to develop the property into nine horticultural lots. He then obtained further approval to development a 350 room Polo Resort and an 18-hole International Style Golf Course.
From the ages of 7 through 16 Mr. Kaplan displayed early signs of entrepreneurship with a professional lemonade stand, carnival in his parent's back yard where he charged $5 to get in, neighborhood car washing business and finally a pillow art company. Then from ages 17 through 23 Drew started a high end car audio business, received his California Real Estate License, purchased and remodeled spec houses and managed the family's 1,100 apartment unit portfolio.
Mr. Kaplan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Hard Knox located in Southern California. He has been recognized for his accomplishments by various media; Deloitte & Touche's prestigious Los Angeles Technology Fast 50 in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007. Deloitte & Touche's prestigious Nationwide Technology Fast 500 list in 2004 and 2005. Ranked the 4th largest ISP by the Los Angeles Business Journal as well as the top 50 and 100 fastest growing privately held companies and 16th largest Telecommunication Company in the region for 2005, 2006, 2007. Mr. Kaplan was also named in the 2004, 40 under 40 list of business professional by the San Fernando Business Journal.
Outside of his business Interest, Mr. Kaplan likes to golf and mountain bike and is a devoted husband and father.
